Zoe Levey, Editor of Wildflower Magazine, will be in conversation with one of the UK’s most loved garden writers and gardeners, Clare Foster to share tips and know-how from her celebrated book on growing flowers from seed, The Flower Garden.
Growing flowers from seed is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to supplement your borders, bringing instant colour to tired gardens. Clare Foster has been experimenting with growing flowers from seed for several years. In this talk, Clare will pass on her invaluable experience, explaining how and when to sow and grow a huge range of flowers from Aquilegia to Zinnia. Clare Foster
I am the Garden Editor at House & Garden UK, and have been a garden writer for nearly 20 years, having started my career at Gardens Illustrated magazine.
My job involves visiting beautiful gardens, meeting garden designers and researching plants and products, and as a result I’m lucky enough to have a wealth of ideas at my fingertips.
I love gardening as much as I love writing and since November 2017 I’ve been working on a new garden in Berkshire, where I have designed and planted a quarter of an acre around my cottage. I have written several garden books including The Flower Garden, How to Grow Flowers from Seed (1919).
Clare Foster has a remarkable knowledge and passion for nature which she shares with her community through beautifully crafted words, and on her own website, Bud to Seed, a site for stylish gardeners. From practical planting tips to identifying new plant species, Clare imparts her wisdom in a very eloquent and engaging way, enabling even the most novice of gardeners a chance to get a trowel in the door. She has joined us to chair a panel discussion in aid of our conservation partner, Plantlife,
