A Sparkling Celebration!

The launch of Endellion Lycett Green’s solo exhibition, ‘And I Saw Solomon’s Seal’.

Tuesday evening marked the grand unveiling of Endellion Lycett Green’s latest exhibition, ‘And I Saw Solomon’s Seal’, brought to life in collaboration with Laura Lopes Art.

It was a floriferous celebration of both Delli’s botanical studies and the longstanding friendship between herself and Thyme. Her characteristic oil paintings, which lean towards a subtle abstraction in their celebration of form and colour, reveal her fascination for the composition of plants.

Endellion has spent the past two summers painting in the water meadows at Thyme, which make up a third of our estate. She describes this exhibition as a ‘florilegium’ to Thyme.

A Note From Camilla Hibbert

‘‘We are all so thrilled to host this solo exhibition by Endellion Lycett Green here in the Tithe Barn at Thyme - a partnership that has been a long time in the making.

It has been an utter joy to work with both Delli and Laura on this exhibition. Delli has spent the last two summers painting in the meadows and gardens at Thyme, and this exhibition really celebrates the story of these wild spaces.

And that is what Thyme is all about - a celebration of the land and of the season. We started this project with a set of dilapidated farm buildings, and have slowly over the last 20 years breathed new life into them, restoring them with an ambition to reconnect them with the land, and in turn reconnect our guests.

Whether it is the seasonal menus in the restaurants, or our botanical patterns and scents in the boutique, or indeed this wonderful exhibitions - it is a joy to celebrate these stories of nature.

What I love most about this exhibition, is that it started about eighteen months previously with an inspired conversation about the wild water meadows - a conservation project here at Thyme that has been underway for the past 20 years, and a very special personal passion of our family. Thank you so much Deli for capturing the wild magic of the plant life in this special place so beautifully in your paintings and Laura for making this exhibition happen.’’
