Exhibitions at Thyme
Our Tithe Barn is a magical space. Dating back to the 17th Century, it is steeped in history which is characterised in the original beams and rubble walls. Now, alongside private dinner parties and our ‘Calendar of Happenings’, we host a series of exhibitions celebrating the seasons and our love of the land.

‘Absorbed by the Beauty’
Britt Willoughby
6th September 2024 - 3rd February 2025
We are delighted to present established and renowned garden photographer, Britt Willoughby’s first solo exhibition, ‘Absorbed by the Beauty’, In a departure from traditional, photographic botanical accuracy, Britt conveys the timeless elegance of Historic Tulips through her visually stunning collection of colour, black and white, and platinum prints, and an accompanying limited-edition, two volume book.
“These exquisite flower bulbs cannot be bought; they are distributed carefully by members of specialist societies, who encourage new members to grow them with extreme care and caution to maintain their breed lines. I am now the proud custodian of my own small but growing collection, thrilled to be capturing each one as they grow, develop and fade.”

“A Flower Garden for Pollinators”
Lauren Lusk
3rd may 2024 - 31st September 2024
Lauren Lusk, a Central Saint Martins trained artist, specialises in botanical and entomological art predominantly in watercolours on vellum - an ancient technique, which is painstaking and requires enormous attention to detail, but results in rich jewel-like paintings.
This series of paintings of flowers and graphite drawings of insects were created especially for the book, A Flower Garden for Pollinators written by her mother, Rachel de Thame.
‘It has been a joy to delve into the tiny details of each of these beautiful plants and study them at close quarters. Knowing that each one of them is also beneficial to pollinators was particularly gratifying, and being able to witness at first-hand how many busy bumblebees, butterflies, moths, and hoverflies were visiting the plants that I grew specifically to paint from in my own garden, was incredible and a wonderful thing to watch.’
