‘A Flower Garden for Pollinators.’

Lauren Lusk

3rd may 2024 - 31st September 2024

Lauren Lusk, a Central Saint Martins trained artist, specialises in botanical and entomological art predominantly in watercolours on vellum - an ancient technique, which is painstaking and requires enormous attention to detail, but results in rich jewel-like paintings.

This series of paintings of flowers and graphite drawings of insects were created especially for the book, A Flower Garden for Pollinators written by her mother, Rachel de Thame.

‘It has been a joy to delve into the tiny details of each of these beautiful plants and study them at close quarters.  Knowing that each one of them is also beneficial to pollinators was particularly gratifying, and being able to witness at first-hand how many busy bumblebees, butterflies, moths, and hoverflies were visiting the plants that I grew specifically to paint from in my own garden, was incredible and a wonderful thing to watch.’
